Welcome to our FAQ page.  Listed below are some of the most frequently asked questions.  Please feel free to contact us for answers to questions that do not appear on this page.

 

 

How do I register?

Registration forms are available on the Forms page of this website.  Completed forms may be mailed to:

Please make all checks payable to BLTYSL.

 

Registration forms may also be dropped off at any of the public registrations.

How can I pay?

         
Cash, checks, money orders, and credit / debit cards are accepted forms of payment at all public registrations.
          Payment by mail must be in cash, check, or money order.

At what age can my child play soccer?

Any child who will attain the age of 4 years old before or during the current season (Spring/Fall) can register to play.

How much does it cost?

Grades Pre-K and K - $30.00

Grades 1, 2, 3, and 4 - $40.00

Grades 5, 6, 7, and 8 - $50.00

 

For grades 5 and 6, there will be a $15.00 discount applied at registration if you have your orange Bridgman Soccer jersey from last season.

For families with MORE than two children registering to play, your third child pays only $20.00.

What is the deadline for registration?

The registration deadline for the Fall 2017 season is July 30, 2017. After this date, the registrar will only accept registrations to fill open spots on teams. Once those teams are full, registrations will no longer be accepted. It is your responsibility to register before the deadline. If you do not, it is likely that your child will not play. Please do not expect exceptions to this policy.

What equipment does my child need to play soccer?

The only equipment your child is required to have are shin guards.  Soccer shoes are not required but are strongly recommended. 

BASEBALL SHOES ARE NOT ALLOWED.  CHILDREN WEARING BASEBALL SHOES WILL NOT BE PERMITTED TO PLAY FOR THEIR SAFETY AND THE SAFETY OF THEIR TEAMMATES!!!

The 5th and 6th graders are asked to wear solid BLACK shorts and BLACK socks to ALL games.

         Can my child play while wearing jewelry?

NO! Your child will NOT be allowed to practice or play in a game with any type of jewelry on. This includes
watches, rings, bracelets, necklaces, earrings, piercings, or any other item that may possibly pose a
danger to the player or the other players. Any child attempting to play with any of the aforementioned items
will be asked to remove them before entering the playing field. If they cannot or will not remove the item, they
will not play. The only exceptions to this rule will be religious/medical medals. Religious medals must be
taped to the body and worn under the uniform. A medical alert must be taped and may be visible. Hair ties or
"ponytail holders" may be worn if they are of a soft material. The referee on the field will have full authority to
inforce this rule on any item they feel is unsafe.

How long is the season?

The Fall 2017 season dates are September 9th through October 10th.

When are practices/games?

Every effort will be made to avoid conflicts with school academics and athletics when the game schedules are made.  

The Instructional thru U10 games will be on Tuesday Evenings and Saturday Mornings. The U12 and U14 games are open to scheduling.
Practices will be determined by your childs coach.

My child wants to be on a team with his/her friend; can they?

PLEASE NOTE POLICY CHANGE !!

Due to fairness issues and the integrity of our blind draw system for choosing teams, the placement of players with friends or with a specific coach, will only be allowed under special circumstances. The Board will review all requests to determine the validity of the request (health issues, etc.) These requests MUST be made DURING registration and must state the reason for the request to be considered. Once teams have been formed, rosters are final.

What is your weather policy?

          Our weather policy is designed to keep our kids safe from dangerous weather such as lightning storms,
          hail, tornados or other dangerous conditions. It is not designed to keep your child (or parent) cozy, dry,
          and warm.
          Soccer is an outside sport and as such, is played in all types of conditions.

           PLEASE NOTE!!  We play in the rain. We play in the cold. We play in the heat. Occasionally, we have
                                    played in the snow. Please dress your child and parent for the weather.

           The BLTYSL administrative board will try to make the decision to cancel games no less than 1 hour prior
           to start time. Coaches will be notified and in turn will notify the parents / players.
           When weather related issues arise after the players are at the field, the field marshal shall have full
           authority to temporarily stop or discontinue games.

           If you have not been contacted by your coach, please plan on being at the fields for your game.

How far will we travel to play other teams?

Only U12 age groups and up will travel outside our community.  U10 may play a tournament at Lakeshore. More details will be provided when the final game schedules are in place.

Who is my child?s coach?

As soon as team formation is complete, your childs' coach will contact you with practice / game information.

Can I bring my pet with me to the park to watch the games?

LAKE TOWNSHIP PARK PROHIBITS PETS OF ANY KIND AT THE PARK!!!! THIS INCLUDES DOGS!!!!

Will there be team pictures?

Individual and team pictures will be taken September 12th, 2017 at the Bridgman Elementary School. Picture packages will be distributed by your childs' coach.  It is NOT mandatory to purchase pictures, however, we do ask that your child attend for a team picture.

Does my child have to be a resident of Lake Township or Bridgman to participate?

No, BLTYSL accepts registrations from all areas in Southwest Michigan.
